Homework and learning

I feel like doing homework the night before or day of class makes it much harder to absorb the vocab and put it into sentence form. I was in a computer class a few weeks ago and the teacher said that the human mind has an inability to stay focused on using only one section of the brain for more than 20 minutes. After that other parts of the brain need to be stimulated or the mind starts to roam outside the topic on hand. This could be a true or false statement but now since I think it is true I am going to incorporate it into my life. I think studying for tinier pockets of time is the way to go.

"Linda Linda Linda" from Netflix

I am really excited about taking this Japanese for business class at Columbia this fall semester. I decided to make an attempt to watch Japanese movies to help integrate more of the correct accent in my ears. The worst part of taking class in America is having the accent of everyone in your class marching through your head and not that of native speakers. I searched Netflix.com for films and the selection aside from animation is really weak. There is one film called, "Linda Linda Linda," which has a soundtrack compiled by one of the Smashing Pumpkins so I decided to select it.

It is not the best of films but with the slow pace and over telling teenage expressions it really helps with language comprehension and immersion. I think it is a good learning aid. I am trying to find a new Japanese teenage soap which I saw clips of in Japan and really liked for its Beverly Hills 90210 drama slant. If anyone has reccomendations let me know!
